February Wrap-Up

February, man. Not my month. Let's call this the "month of lame excuses not to read." Kicked in the butt by my school work? Check. Distracted by the Olympics? Check. Regularly working 50 hour weeks? Super check. And being too sick and hopped up on cold meds to even read? Yup, that happened, too.

I'm super dedicated to my 75 book goal in 2017, so I squeezed a measly 5 books out of this month. it's okay to be ashamed for me. I'm ashamed of me, too 🙈

I set my reading goal for 75, a new personal high, this year, and I'm actually on track! On top of that, I'm taking 3 classes toward my business admin degree, working full time, and working out 3-4 times a week. All in all I'd call January a personal success!

October Wrap-Up

Oh my, what dreary covers this month! I did some taking-care-of business with some review commitments (The Daemoniac, The Mine, No Rest For the Wicked, and Timekeeper) and fell in love with every one of them! When I first started accepting books from publishers, I figured that any free book was a good book. But let me tell you, book blogging has been such a humbling experience in seeing just how many amazing authors are out there! I especially want to commend debut author Tara Sim on Timekeeper. If this book is sitting on your Netgalley shelf, do yourself a favor and read it right now! I also got absolutely addicted to the horrifically under-appreciated Sum of Its Parts series by E.M. Holloway! Hopefully there are some posts in the works for those books... Last but not least is the only physical book I bought: Three Dark Crowns! Who else is hooked on this new series?

This was the month of series! I plowed through the end of The Selection series and then marathoned Throne of Glass for the release of Empire of Storms (which was totally worth the hype!). February Wrap-Up

I finally broke my eight-book spell! For months I've been reading exactly eight books - just check out my Read in 2015 page! To be fair, Proposal was a novella, but I still feel like I broke some kind of curse, like The Curse of the Bambino or something. That being said, I went a little Mediator crazy at the beginning of the month with the release of Remembrance, which I have been looking forward to for two years! Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! I also fell in love with On the Verge by Garen Glazier, which is a debut novel I received as an ARC. Her work is phenomenal and from my Twitter interactions she seems like the nicest person. I can't wait to see more from her! To wrap up the month I read some "trendy" YAs to catch up with the "in" book scene. Glass Sword and Fairest underwhelmed me, but Ten Thousand Skies Above You blew its predecessor out of the water!

January Wrap-Up

I'm finally back to my normal reading self! Eight books always seems to be my average for a month. This month, I knocked out two TBR's: Jackaby and Beastly Bones by William Ritter. Even though they're a little duller than they could be, they have an awesome world and I'd highly recommend them for fans of BBC Sherlock or the original ACD canon. Other than those, the rest of my books (minus Hitched, which was a sequel) were ARCs given to me either from NetGalley or from Xpresso Book Tours. Almana and Crushed were decent - not excellent, but worth the read - but I found myself LOVING Fifteen Lanes and The V Girl! Be sure to check them out when they're published!

January Update

Hello, everyone!

Thanks for staying along for the ride even though I haven't been posting recently.

Some personal life recently befell me in the form of my grandmother passing, so I've had little time to read let alone blog about it. But services are complete and I'm back to my routine, so now it's time for some catch-up!

Last year I had a goal of 50 books and ended up reading 64 - wowza! This was the most I've ever read, and also the first full year I've been out of school. Since I have no idea where this year will take me, I'm setting my 2016 goal at 52. As of today, I'm 3 books in!

December 2015 Wrap-Up

I know I'll say this every month, but December flew by fast! Between the holidays and working 40 hours a week waitressing, I swear I blinked and it was over.

It felt like I read a lot but I only read four books: the three books of The Infernal Devices series and The Bane Chronicles (plus Clare's After the Bridge, but I'm not counting that considering that it's essentially fanficiton of herself.)

What I'm most proud of though is how far my blog has come along. I'm *almost* happy with the formatting and I've begun to settle into a rhythm of posting. Thank you for everything who has been along with me for this blogging adventure!
